Protected Area Governance and Management

The IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas has launched a new world-class publication on Protected Area Governance and Management.
The new compendium provides a comprehensive source of information for all aspects of governing and managing protected areas (PA).
In 27 chapters ranging from values and benefits of PAs, engagement and participation, to evaluation, the book will build the capacity of field officers, Managers in charge and executive level managers, and assist current practitioners, policy makers, planners and other professionals to achieve the effective management of protected areas.
The book represents the single largest volunteer effort for an individual book project in the history of WCPA, with 169 contributing protected area experts producing almost 1000 pages over a period of three years.The book was launched at the IUCN World Parks Congress in November 2014 in Sydney.
