The Hydro Nation Scholars 2017 Programme is now open!

July 26, 2016

The Hydro Nation Scholars Programme is part of the Scottish Government’s Hydro Nation strategy. The objective of the strategy is to develop the economic, environmental and social value of Scotland’s water resources. The Hydro Nation Scholars play an important role in supporting this by:

  • developing understanding of how and where best to develop the value of Scotland’s water resources
  • focusing on enhancing Scottish capacity in areas of existing research excellence
  • providing new research and insights where there are gaps related to water resources in Scotland.

The Programme and the associated graduate school will be managed on behalf of the Scottish Government by Scotland’s Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW), drawing on its Scotland-wide water policy, industry, and academic network.

Vetted Roster of Experts: Water and Ocean Governance

June 14, 2016

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is an Implementing Agency of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). As such, UNDP supports developing countries in accessing funds from the GEF to finance agreed incremental activities that enhance their efforts to address global environment issues. In doing this, it provides countries highly specialized technical services for GEF eligibility assessment, formulation, design and development of GEF projects in the Water and Oceans Governance sector, identification and mobilization of required project co-financing, project implementation, project results management and evaluation, and knowledge management.

To facilitate the identification, allocation and designation of the appropriate expertise for the design, management, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) requirements of the client countries in their efforts on water and oceans related projects, UNDP-GEF’s Water & Oceans Team is developing a roster of experts that would comprise of vetted capable and qualified individuals who can be called upon and provide specific project design, management or M&E support to the W&O portfolio.  A screening procedure will be applied to select the prospective applicants that will be registered in the UNDP-GEF W&O Vetted Experts Roster. This roster will be maintained for a period of 3 years. Retention in the roster of selected experts will be contingent on continuous delivery of satisfactory services.

IBS Young Scientist Fellowship (YSF)

June 06, 2016

With the vision of “Making Discoveries for Humanity and Society,” the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) was founded in 2011 by the Korean government to promote basic sciences in Korea. Twenty-six IBS Research Centers have been launched and each Center is operated by internationally renowned scientists.

This year, the IBS introduces a new program called “Young Scientist Fellowship (YSF)” to play an active role in fostering next-generation basic science leaders. The YSF offers opportunities for young, promising scientists to do their own basic research work in one of the IBS Research Centers while sharing ideas and utilizing our state-of-art infrastructures. We encourage challenging and high-risk basic research within the special nature of each RC.
