Since 1977, IIASA’s annual 3-month Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP) offers research opportunities to talented young researchers whose interests correspond with IIASA’s ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change.Funding is provided through IIASA’s National Member Organizations.

APN’s Annual Proposal Development Training Workshop (PDTW) will be held on 28 February-2 March 2018 in Viet Nam. The training workshop is designed to enhance the capacity of young scientists and practitioners in Southeast Asia to develop competitive research proposals for funding. Another main focus of the workshop is to provide a platform to strengthen the network among Southeast Asia researchers as well as identify collaborators for regional research activities.

The Hydro Nation Scholars 2017 Programme is now open!
The Hydro Nation Scholars Programme is part of the Scottish Government’s Hydro Nation strategy. The objective of the strategy is to develop the economic, environmental and social value of Scotland’s water resources. The Hydro Nation Scholars play an important role in supporting this by:
- developing understanding of how and where best to develop the value of Scotland’s water resources
- focusing on enhancing Scottish capacity in areas of existing research excellence
- providing new research and insights where there are gaps related to water resources in Scotland.
The Programme and the associated graduate school will be managed on behalf of the Scottish Government by Scotland’s Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW), drawing on its Scotland-wide water policy, industry, and academic network.

Vetted Roster of Experts: Water and Ocean Governance
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is an Implementing Agency of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). As such, UNDP supports developing countries in accessing funds from the GEF to finance agreed incremental activities that enhance their efforts to address global environment issues. In doing this, it provides countries highly specialized technical services for GEF eligibility assessment, formulation, design and development of GEF projects in the Water and Oceans Governance sector, identification and mobilization of required project co-financing, project implementation, project results management and evaluation, and knowledge management. To facilitate the identification, allocation and designation of the appropriate expertise for the design, management, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) requirements of the client countries in their efforts on water and oceans related projects, UNDP-GEF’s Water & Oceans Team is developing a roster of experts that would comprise of vetted capable and qualified individuals who can be called upon and provide specific project design, management or M&E support to the W&O portfolio. A screening procedure will be applied to select the prospective applicants that will be registered in the UNDP-GEF W&O Vetted Experts Roster. This roster will be maintained for a period of 3 years. Retention in the roster of selected experts will be contingent on continuous delivery of satisfactory services.
