IWA’s strategic plan (2014-2018) has added a new strategic priority area that is focused on IWA as a facilitator Towards learning and professional development. Its main goal is to have water and environment professionals improve their knowledge and skills by using the IWA learning and professional updating mechanisms. This also means that the sector’s organisations need support in becoming learning organisations on their own. We are in the initial stages, this requires scoping on key principles for effective capacity development for IWA’s and its member organisations, developing a larger water sector competencies framework, and a water sector’s career development framework.
